Today's topic is free FPS's. For those who don't know FPS in this case stands for , First Person Shooter, and if your talking about how well a game runs and all FPS also stands for, Frames Per Second. Anyways so I would like to drag this topic out and I plan to do this by today's post being just generally about the best FPS's, and then every day a specific review on each game. I decided to talk about free games this week for all those people who have a tight budget and can't spend much money for good products.
There are a few good free FPS's that I have played before and a few that I haven't and these are Crossfire, Soldier Front, Operation 7, Team Fortress 2, Combat Arms, and Sudden Attack. Combat Arms and Sudden Attack I haven't tried yet so feedback on any or both of those would be greatly appreciated. All of these require having to find online and manually register and download except for TF2 which you just recently became free which you must download through Steam. Combat Arms I heard was a decent game, and actually Sudden Attack is relatively better than all of these according to some of my friends, tell me if their wrong. It is my fault I haven't tried it out yet, but I promise i'll blog about it once I have. But back to the ones I have tried, of the 4 I've played I couldn't say which one is the best. Soldier Front was my first computer FPS ever, and it led me to love PC gaming better than any other gaming. For this reason I always crave going back to install and play it even though when I started playing Crossfire (my second FPS) I found a good significant difference in graphics and gaming ratios. I did like though that the interface and server design where very similar between these two, so if you play one now switching to the other would not be very hard to adapt to. Operation 7 on the other hand has a relatively difficult download process and difficult interface (in my opinion). Although I only stuck with this FPS for a few weeks I do remember that I really liked being able to lean left/right and shoot which I couldn't do in any other FPS I know. Lastly but not least, Team Fortress 2, I just downloaded a few days ago and it definitely has the hardest interface to get used to but I as I played more I really liked there necessity for teamwork to win. There are 9 different characters with different weapons and specialties and you choose which one you need to help your team win. My K/D ratio isn't the greatest in that game yet, but it's definitely a game i'm willing to play for more than a bit to get used to. Stay tuned for a more in depth description on each one throughout the week and leave comments on anything you know about Combat Arms or Sudden Attack.
