Ok so first we'll start off with the FPS that I have played the longest, Crossfire. To begin with you can download and register at http://crossfire.z8games.com/ .
Servers
Now once your finished with the whole install process and start up the game there are a few set servers in which you can create your own customized rooms whether private or public. They have 1 rookie server for new people, 3 good public American servers, 2 servers for rank Staff Sergeant to earn 5% more GP(game points) per game, and a few clan servers so that you and your clan can fight against other clans. You can create your own clan on their website when you log in to your account or you can join someone else's.
Game Modes
Now the actual games that you can play are mainly the same as all the other typical modes in FPS's except for 2. There is Team Death Match, Search & Destroy, Mutation/Hero Mode which are just like zombie mode, Knife(and/or)Sniper/Pistol Only games, Elimination which is 1 life per round a.k.a no re-spawning, Free-For-All a.k.a every man for them self, and the 2 special modes, Escape Mode and Ghost Mode. Escape Mode there are two teams, one defending and one attacking. There is a glowing escape point at the defending side, and the attacking team must shoot their way through and get a certain number of people to reach the point without dieing before time runs out. Personally this is my favorite mode because it is so unique and unlike all the other modes out there and it is a suspenseful game. There situations where you are the closest to the point, there are 3 people guarding the point, there are 10 seconds left and you don't know whether you can get though it all and win your team the victory, or the other way around you are defending and don't know whether you can prevent the team from getting through just one more time before the 10 seconds run out. Ghost Mode is also different from most FPS modes, because there are 2 teams playing S&D, one team defending the points preventing them from getting planted by bombs and defusing if they do get set up, and the other team which plants the bombs and tries to secretly assassin the defending team with a special power of theirs. This special power is the reason the mode is called ghost mode, for when they stand still they become completely invisible; only there is a catch, the ghost team only have knives. For this reason they must be very careful to not be spotted before they can make a clean kill or else they will get shot in the back, and you know the rule in S&D, no spawning per round.
Weapons
I will go over every one of my personal favorites for each gun/weapon category and why I like it the best. First for assault rifles I choose the Scar-Light because it has good power, accuracy also pretty high, its semi/fully automatic, and has a very small recoil, and very light weight for easy maneuverability. For SMG(sub-machine gun) I choose MP5 because the power is in between decent-powerful, accuracy incredibly high, has automatic burst, medium recoil, and very light weight. The DSR-1 wins for sniper rifles, having a single zoom and burst action combined with incredible power and accuracy better than any other sniper, which make up for its horrible recoil, and heavy weight. M60 is the only machine gun on the website, which I don't use in the game, so I'm not sure if there are others in the actual game, but I guess it wins in this pick. There are 3 shotguns in the game and most of the details for them are the same except the the Spas-12 has less accuracy made up by more power making it the better gun. The best pistol I would say is by far the Desert Eagle whether it's Camo, Gold, or with a Scope because it has the best combination of power and accuracy which is what is needed in a pistol. There are grenades, flash-bangs, and smoke bombs which can all be used at the same time in ghost or mutation/hero mode. There is a knife, a combat axe, and a field shovel. The knife is default(you start out with it), and the other two you must win in the black market. Now the black market. The black market is also a special feature in this game in which you use your GP earned in battle to redeem crates. You can choose which gun crate you would like to buy, every crate having its own special side objects(for e.g. a desert eagle camo). For every crate that you buy you get a spin, out each spin you win 3 things of which can be a temporary weapon, an in game wall paint, game points, coupons which can later be redeemed for other objects, or if your very lucky a permanent weapon which can only be won at the black market. There are also ZP crates which must be bought with real money, but I mean if your playing a FREE FPS I wouldn't be wasting money on that, but rather a better FPS like COD or Counter Strike or a better computer.
Sadly this will probably be the best post on FPS's this week because I don't know the other ones as well but I will try my best. Well that's about it, please ask if you have any questions at all because I can probably answer about 95% of them, even though nobody usually asks. But seriously ask..... Thanks.
